My friend took me here while I was visiting Steamboat and told me that "this is where all the locals go." He must not have been kidding because the line was so absurdly long when we opened the door that I didn't even get to eat here till the next day. When I finally did, however, I was blown away and returned two more times just because the food was so insane. The cupcakes, acai bowls, and muffins are all especially great. The coffee isn't good but, with food like this, that doesn't really matter. Of all the cupcakes I had, a glazed lemon poppyseed one was probably the best, followed by a carrot cake and snickerdoodle variety. The acai bowl here is completely awesome, as was this banana nutella muffin. The only pastry here that didn't really blow me away was an apple coffee cake. Oh and Definitely try the quiches. A bacon and leek one I had was pretty amazing and definitely one of the better varieties I have had outside of a major city. I almost want to take a star off because the coffee here is so terrible but I am sure they will improve that with time. They just need to source out some Stumpton and drip it or just get like an espresso machine or something. I don't know. But bad coffee aside, the food here is so great and the atmosphere here is so warm and enjoyable and almost Caribbean-feeling that I have to give this place 5 stars. Definitely stop by for early eats if you are in Steamboat. Also, nice job on being in Steamboat and having to read this review in the first place. You have good taste, kind reader.

BEST COFFEE SHOP IN TOWN! This place is fantastic. It's got this cool vibe and they always have a good gluten free snacks --cupcakes, scones --to go with your cuppa. They have a $5 credit card minimum which is a bit of a pain (not really, though, because I almost always get a "breakfast cupcake"), so bring cash.

Super friendly staff, wifi, fabulous smoothies, comfortable setting to sit and talk or work -- a gem.

Americano was COLD! They use a water heater from Walmart and they should heat the water before they serve it.

COFFEE Their brew house coffee is ridiculous. Some of the best coffee I've ever had. I immediately googled Raven's Brew Coffee (based in Portland, OR) and tried to find the coffee beans to buy. But it seems they don't sell the Yampa Valley Blend that I was drinking. So sad! FOOD Pastry selection was smaller than I expected for a place that specializes in cupcakes (3 types of scones, gluten-free pumpkin bread, really tasty looking coffeecake muffin). They were also all really sugary looking, so I was nervous. But I had the Lemon-Blueberry Scone -- very crisp and fresh tasting! Yes, sugary, but not in an overpowering way. Very fresh! My boyfriend had one of the Morningside Steamers: Steamed Eggs with Cracked Pepper & Shaved Parmesan, served with Sourdough Toast. The parmesan and pepper created a unique and wonderful flavor. He gobbled it right down. Again, very fresh tasting! LOCATION & SERVICE Super cute house. Felt very cozy bohemian. Hope it doesn't lose business being tucked away off main strip (that's why I wanted to review it! come one yelp!). The woman who served us was AMAZING. Real personable and helpful. Felt like a "when you're here, you're family" kind of place.

What a great, apparently recently opened find in Steamboat! Located at 427 Oak street, a couple back from main-drag Lincoln, MB is a family owned (watching 7 year old Gabe work the register was a hoot and encouraging to see, just to help out) coffe/breakfast/lunch spot that serves great lattes, awesome oatmeal and a very friendly, unassuming attitude. Remodeled house that provides lots of nooks to hunker down with a book or your wifi-enabled device, as well as a patio (former driveway). Lots of locals here, always a good sign and a true vote of confidence. Had two visits: first enjoyed lattes, oatmeal and a muffin. Second, lattes only, but both times way above your average chain coffee/pastry joint. Steamboat residents should be proud to have Mountain Brew!

Cute place but not so good coffee. Ordered an iced americano, regular americano, iced coffee and a regular coffee. Couldn't tell the difference between any of the iced drinks. Both my mom (americano) and brother (iced americano) described their drinks as watery. Probably going to stick with Starbucks.

This is a wonderful hidden treasure of a coffee shop. They offer a wide variety of flavored speciality lattes as well as a wonderful cup of good old black coffee. If you are lucky and they have not sold out their baked goods you are in for a treat. Fresh out of the oven, full of flavor, and most important home made. Although their coffee is to die for their breakfast and lunch menu is also worthy of praise. They have a wonderful light menu perfect for enjoying their or on the go. By far the best coffee shop in town.

Delicious coffee and scone! Be sure to check out the beautifully decoupaged bathroom with the Robert Frost poem.

5 stars for its food and friendly service. MountainBrew also provided desserts for our friends' daughter's wedding reception, they were so good that we went back to its store for more...

Very good coffee (had an Americano), and tasty sandwiches. I had the spike. Really like the setting as well. Enjoyed the patio for some reading.

Great coffee and even better tasty treats! This shop is one street removed from the main drag but is consistently enjoyable.

This is THE PLACE! the combination of location (cool neighborhood feel away from traffic), great products (Coffee drinks, amazing pastries & sandwiches), wonderful owners and staff and a super house band (Premium Blend) make this a great hangout to capture a slice of real 'Steamboat' .

Best scone I've ever had! Great find. It's an old house converted to a coffee shop with a great outdoor patio. They had several different scone flavors, coffee cake, and amazing muffins. The coffee is better than Starbucks.

Great coffee, convenient location near the main street downtown in Steamboat but being one block off it's just far enough away to have a calm relaxing outdoor seating area.

We had their house chai, triple berry smoothie and some pastries. All was fantastic and the service was just as good.

What a gem! Had a vintage feel to it. Felt like I was in a cheesy chick flick romance movie, yet very cute ^_^ I love it. Plenty of breakfast/lunch and baked sweets to choose from. Staff were super friendly and sweet. It's a bit harder to find, especially in the middle of a snow storm because it's located in a neighborhood. It's a remodeled home pretty much and it still look very much like a home from the outside. "Mountain Brew" sign is tiny!!!!

Wanted to try this place but had a very so-so experience. We ordered coffee and then proceeded to wait quite a while for an egg dish that came wrapped in foil which we shared. It was mediocre at best and not worth a second visit. The place wasn't busy so we did not understand why this long wait. We also shared a muffin which was mediocre, definitely not what you would expect from a place that prides itself on their baked goods. Not a memorable experience. With the number of coffee shops to choose from we will not be back to this one.

Love MountainBrew; they do a great job with all their sandwiches, and produce fantastic baked goods. Very creative coffee flavors, wonderful and authentic "local hangout" ambiance; a great place to stop downtown. Friendly staff. One block back from Lincoln ave, on Oak St., in a renovated home. MountainBrew also now operates the cafe at the Steamboat Library (new, February 2013.)

We used MountainBrew for our wedding in September and they did an amazing job! Tasha was very friendly and kept a good line of communication between us. They set up our 14 dozen cupcakes and cake exactly perfect and our guests loved them! We would absolutely recommend to others for a Steamboat wedding!

Small local coffee shop tucked away on Oak st. It is a little hard to find but worth the search. The service is friendly and the food options are great! Just be aware there us a $5 minimum for credit cards so bring cash if you plan on just getting a small drink. A lot better experience than a chain coffee shop and you are supporting a small business! #buylocal

Best place in Steamboat for coffee. They make an excellent cappuccino and the baked goods are outstanding. Cupcakes are especially delicious. The staff is very friendly. Really love this place!

Love this place! Great hot coffee drinks unlike Starbucks. Also the pastries are made in house and are delicious. I went there to pick up 6 cupcakes for a co worker who is expecting around 7am unfortunately there were only pistachio cupcakes and they told me there would be more around 10am. I came back at my lunch around 12:30-1ish and there were some yummy chocolate ones. I was the second in line and the 2 ladies in front of me ordered the rest of the cupcakes, I was so bummed! Until, the owner also the great cupcake chef came out and let me know there were raspberry and lemon ones that would be finished shortly. Needless to say it was worth the wait and we got our cupcakes. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because the girl behind the counter was only ok, not very friendly.

My expectations might have been a bit high due to their five star rating. I've stopped by 3x in the last 2 weeks. My favorite was the dirty chai; the customer service was also phenomenal. However, my latte with coconut and creme de cacao lacked distinct flavor of either. In all fairness, I'm sure they would have been more than willing to correct it, but I had kids with me and was too rushed to ask. The ambiance is a bit lacking as well. Either way, I'm sure ill be back they are wonderful people, I'm excited to try the food and the prices are great as compared to the larger than average cup sizes.

We walked here from our AirBnB rental and checked in for a free latte. The decor is a little odd and not overly comfortable for a coffee shop (where we would have liked to get cozy/lounge/read for a while), but it got the job done. Try the quiche for a little breakfast bite!

Friends just brought a dozen cupcakes over for dessert tonight and they were absolutely delicious! Red Velvet Cake has become so predictable and over done but not these, moist but firm cake with a cream cheese base frosting that is just right - not too sweet, not too cheesy. Classic vanilla with chocolate frosting was perfect, and the inserted small chocolate filled pirouette cookie is a fun and tasty addition. Snicker Noodle fans will be happy with the cupcakes too.

We had Mountain Brew make the mini cake and mini cup cakes for our daughters wedding. We had rave reviews on both.
